HV Cancer Resources - Medical Supplies - Rockland County Back
Rockland Independent Living Center
The program allows individuals to borrow medical equipment they cannot afford when insurance will not cover the cost. Items available for short-term and long-term loans include bath transfer benches, canes, commodes, crutches, raised toilet eats, walker,s ramps, wheelchairs and electronic wheelchairs.

There is a $5 fee for using smaller items and $25 for larger ones, but no one is denied if they cannot afford it. The RILC currently only offers the loan closet at its New City Location, but plans to open "outpost loan closets" in North Rockland, Orangetown and Ramapo this fall.

"For 26 years, Rockland Independent Living Center has been a leader in advocacy, making independent living possible and improving the quality of life for people with and without disabilities, including Rockland's seniors," Hoehmann said. "Our new medical equipment loan closet program is one of six services specifically designed to help Rockland's 45,000 seniors live better and lead more productive lives."
